      Artist's Statement:

Drawing has always helped me analyze the complex emotions of life such as love, loneliness, wonderment, confusion,
fear, and so on. I've always been attracted to bold, vibrant colors which could be because I've worn eyeglasses since
kindergarten. My work brings the hope and warmth of color to the sometimes desolate and cold subjects that I tackle.
The oxymoron of “happy sadness” is one that I explore regularly in my work. We all struggle in our lives and in a whimsical
and sensitive fashion I want my work to reach those in the midst of pain, those who have overcome obstacles, and those
who are about to face them.

      Biography:
I wouldn't say I am totally self-taught but I do not have a degree in art. I have drawn all of my life and have been guided
by mentors here and there. I was offered and accepted a tattoo apprenticeship in my twenties which was probably the
most influential element in how my style and skill have developed. I tattooed off and on for about ten years and in 2007
my wife and I sold the tattoo studio that we had owned and I started drawing and painting full-time. I began selling art
online and in coffee shops and restaurants and eventually began landing gallery shows. My world changed when I offered
my work at the Albuquerque Comic Expo in 2011. It was my first comic book convention and I was hooked. I now show at
eight or nine comic cons each year, on top of gallery shows, tattoo conventions, festivals, and more.

I grew up on skateboarding, Saturday morning cartoons, comic books, metal and alternative music, and the kind of video games that only worked if you put a
quarter in the machine or had the controller plugged in to the system, and you had to blow into the game cartridges or they would freeze up.

Living in Saint Augustine, FL I get on the water as much as I can, whether by boat, board, or body. My favorite out-of-studio moments are at the beach with my
wife Rachel and three kids Elorah, Isaiah, and Fischer. We are all learning to surf and I am teaching the kiddos how to fish (Rachel teaches me sometimes). We also
love to take our camper into the mountains a few times a year and just enjoy God's creations.
